Carman Contracting completes first project for Amiri Homes with vital energy-efficient installations

Carman Contracting has successfully completed its first collaboration with Amiri Homes, delivering crucial electrical and energy-efficient solutions for a new housing development comprising 16 affordable houses in New Milton.

The project's scope, which began in early 2024, involved the design and installation of 58 solar panels across the development, contributing to the homes' sustainability and reducing long-term energy costs for residents. Our expertise in renewable energy solutions made us the ideal partner for this important housing initiative by New Forest District Council.

We worked closely with Amiri Homes and various other trades during the project. As part of our contract, we also ensured full compliance with Distribution Network Operator (SSE) regulations, the Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS) and consumer code requirements.

Rory Carman, Director at Carman Contracting, said "From designing within tight budgetary constraints to ensuring the installation met the specific parameters of the SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) reports, there were plenty of challenges in this project. Installing solar panels on slate roofs also required extra time and care, as slate is more brittle than other roofing materials."

Despite these complexities, Carman Contracting's dedicated team of solar engineers, supported by one of our project managers, and administrative staff, delivered the 6-month installation within the Amiri building schedule and to a very high standard.

This project, set for full completion by the end of 2024,  marks the first collaboration between Carman  Contracting and Amiri Homes, with further projects already in the pipeline. Our team is ready to work on a 31-plot mixed housing and flats project in Waterlooville, beginning in November 2024.
