Carman Contracting completes innovative electrical installation for Lush’s first stand-alone HairLab in Brighton
Carman Contracting has recently completed a redesign and fit-out project for Lush's groundbreaking HairLab in Brighton. Working alongside our long-standing client, Jade Aiden Interiors, we transformed a dilapidated shop unit into an innovative space emphasising community and creative design.
Lush's in-house team designed the Lush HairLab, the company's first stand-alone facility that combines a hair salon, café, shop and spa. Working to a tight deadline of six weeks, we played a central role in bringing their unique vision to life and creating a functional and aesthetically-appealing salon.
Our scope of works included complete electrical services, specialist lighting, heating systems and comprehensive security solutions. A focal point of the installation is the modern, exposed soffit electrical system with visible galvanised steel conduit and tray work. Lush's signature funky style influenced the design of the lighting system, which includes intuitive colour-changing systems and stylish electrical fixtures. The overall result is an immersive sensory experience for clients, particularly in the botanical washroom, where visitors are bathed in light and sound.
Elsewhere, we installed a specialist hot and cold heating system with electric boilers and pump sets. Additionally, we installed a comprehensive Texecom intruder alarm system with PIR coverage, door sensors, and a fully addressable fire alarm system. This system interfaces with the landlord's system to ensure safety for the residential units above the HairLab.
"The location of the site, in a busy high street with no parking by the premises, caused a few logistical issues, and the short timeline required meticulous coordination and collaboration across multiple trade disciplines," explained Rory Carman, Director at Carman Contracting. “However, despite these challenges, our team did an outstanding job and completed the project on time and to our usual high standards.”
